"The Lord is the
portion of my inheritance and my cup; Thou dost support my lot. The lines have fallen to me in pleasant
places; indeed my heritage is beautiful to me.
I will bless the Lord who
has counselled me; indeed, my mind instructs me in the night. I have set the Lord continually before me;
because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory
rejoices; my flesh also will dwell securely." Psalm 16:5-9
"In the day of
prosperity be happy7. But in the day of
adversity consider -- God has made the one as well as the other so that men may
not discover anything that will be after him." Ecclesiastes
7:14
"As difficult as it is to trust God in times of adversity,
there are other times when it may be even more difficult to trust him. These would be times when circumstances are
going well.
"-- In adversity we tend to doubt God's fatherly care, but
in prosperity we tend to forget it. If
we are to trust God, we must acknowledge our dependence upon Him at all times,
good times as well as bad times."*
When times are bad we cry out to God, we look to Him for help,
we may blame Him, we may even grow angry with Him, but we know only He can help;
yet, when times are good we can get a bit cocky and think we have done pretty
well for ourselves. Nothing could be
more foolish than to forget Father God in the good times.
Take care with love, especially His! Your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene
NEW PRAYER REQUESTS: For Nancy, a friend of Hans, who had surgery last week, hoping
it is not cancer. She does not know the
Lord, yet.
Pray for the man who has opened his home to Adrian that his heart would
soften toward Adrian. Adrian's pain and
