Sin Foundations - Vindictiveness

"So she gave him her maid Bilhah as a wife, and Jacob went in to her.  And Bilhah conceived and bore Jacob a son.  Then Rachel said, 'God has vindicated me, and has indeed heard my voice and has given me a son.'  Therefore she named him Dan.

"And Rachel's maid Bilhah conceived again and bore Jacob a second son.  So Rachel said, 'With mighty wrestlings I have wrestled with my sister, and I have indeed prevailed.'  And she named him Naphtali." Genesis 30:4-7

To be vindictive is to be seeking revenge that comes from a strong or unreasoning desire to hurt and be spiteful.  Rachel's love transformed into something very sad.  God sees our hearts as well as He sees our struggles, and He is the one who cares for us in ways we cannot imagine.  God has a plan and He will work it out around us or with us.

"Never pay back evil for evil to anyone.  Respect what is right in the sight of all men.  If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men.  Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, 'Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,' says the Lord." Romans 12:17-19

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene
