"And the
messengers returned to Jacob, saying, 'We came to your brother Esau, and
furthermore he is coming to meet you, and four hundred men are with him.' Then Jacob was greatly afraid and distressed;
and he divided the people who were with him, and the flocks and the herds and
the camels, into two companies; for he said, 'If Esau comes to the one company
and attacks it, then the company which is left will escape.'" Genesis
32:6-8
God
is working all around us all the time for His purposes and for His glory and
for His plan for our lives to work out well for His glory. There are two things to remember during time
of guilty fear:
"And as
for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring
about this present result, to preserve many people alive." Genesis 50:20
"In this
is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the
propitiation (full, complete and perfect payment) for our sins. -- There is no
fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves
punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love. We love because He first loved us." I John 1:10, 18, 19
What
Jacob did was wrong. His guilt was
justified, yet God's plan overrides all the whirling emotion and actions
surrounding us, even in the midst of what we believe is evil. Trusting God in the midst of the worst,
brings about the best in us too.
Take
care with love, especially His! Your
servant and friend in Christ, Darlene
