“Now the serpent was more
crafty than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, ‘Indeed, has God
said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’?’ And the woman said to the serpent, ‘From the
fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat; but from the fruit of the tree which
is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat from it or
touch it, lest you die.’’
“And the serpent said to the
woman, ‘You surely shall not die! For
God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you
will be like God, knowing good and evil.’” Genesis 3:1-5
“Your boasting is not
good. Do you not know that a little
leaven leavens the whole lump of dough?
Clean out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, just as you are in
fact unleavened. For Christ our Passover
also has been sacrificed.”
I Corinthians 5:6-7
When
we recognise that God loves us and that our sin keeps us from Him, we long to
be with Him. Some think they have lived
a “reasonably righteous” life and that in the balance they will go to Heaven –
their good outweighs their bad, yet...
“For
whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty
of all.” James 2:10
That
would be hopeless if it was not for God also giving us a lifetime supply of Spiritual
soap in I John 1:9!
Take
care with love, especially His! Your
servant and friend in Christ, Darlene
