The Whisperer

“Hear my prayer, O Lord, give ear to my supplications! Answer me in Thy faithfulness, in Thy righteousness! And do not enter into judgment with Thy servant, for in Thy sight, no man living is righteous. For the enemy has persecuted my soul; he has crushed my life to the ground; he has made me dwell in dark places like those who have long been dead. Therefore my spirit is overwhelmed within me; my heart is appalled within me. – Answer me quickly, O Lord, my spirit fails; do not hide Thy face from me, lest I become like those who go down to the pit. Let me hear Thy lovingkindness in the morning for I trust in Thee; teach me the way in which I should walk;” Psalm 143:1-4, 7-8

Sometimes we face troubles and try to face them alone. We think about what we should do. We take this or that action. We ask for the wisdom of others. We change our direction in thinking or action in response. We cry or laugh at how things begin to go. We are disappointed or angry or depressed or simply overwhelmed by circumstances or people or opinion (ours or someone else’s). But God is just waiting for us to come to Him. It is the easy way He has left for us, but the hardest solution for us. Why? Because we have this drive toward “self-sufficiency” whispering in our ears: “He made you with the ability to fix this and expects you to handle it.” I wonder who is whispering?

“’For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.’” Genesis 3:5

Stay near God's Word. Take care. Your servant & friend in Christ, Darlene

PS: The funeral for Carla’s father is this Friday. Pray for her and all her family, especially her Mom. Pray also for David and Adrian who continue to recover from ongoing health battles. Pray for Tim and Barb who I miss so much. And pray for Bill who suddenly lost his job after seven years.
