Protects & Supports

“Do not trust in princes, in mortal man, in whom there is no salvation. His spirit departs, he returns to the earth; in that very day his thoughts perish. How blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God; who made heaven and earth, the sea and all that is in them; who keeps faith forever; who executes justice for the oppressed; who gives food to the hungry. The Lord sets the prisoners free. The Lord opens the eyes of the blind; the Lord raises up those who are bowed down; the Lord loves the righteous; The Lord protects the strangers; He supports the fatherless and the widow; but He thwarts the way of the wicked.” Psalm 146:3-9

Four hundred family and friends gathered at the funeral to honour Carla’s father. This man came late to experience the Lord’s grace. He was never rich in worldly riches, but had a family held together by his Lord’s love. Now that family will be tied together even more closely by his memory -- the Lord will support his widow and those who still depended on him. Being in God’s family means you are blessed in ways you do not expect.

Stay near God's Word. Take care. Your servant & friend in Christ, Darlene

PS: Pray for Carla as she prepares to return home. Pray for her Mom and Paul (who has been carrying the weight of the family in her absence). Pray for David and Adrian who continue to recover from ongoing health battles. Pray for Tim and Barb who I miss so much. And for Bill who suddenly lost his job after seven years.
