“’But it shall come about, if you
do not obey the Lord your God, to observe to do all His commandments and His
statues with which I charge you today, that all these curses will come upon you
and overtake you.
“’The Lord will send upon you
curses, confusion and rebuke, in all you undertake to do, until you are
destroyed and until you perish quickly, on account of the evil of your deeds,
because you have forsaken Me.
“’The Lord will make the
pestilence cling to you until He has consumed you from the land where you are
entering to possess it. The Lord will
smite you with consumption and with fever and with inflammation and blight and
with mildew, and they will pursue you until you perish.’” Deuteronomy 28:15, 20-22
Since men choose disobedience in
the Garden of Eden, God has been working out His plan to restore the
relationship. Yet, because man is
self-motivated in his sin nature and desires, even installing and enforcing
tough consequences as those above did not move men’s hearts to obedience.
Jesus’ death demonstrates the
immense cost of sin and the greater love of God who established grace and
forgiveness for those who would admit their sin and reach out to Him to be
saved.
As we walk away from the Cross,
all fresh and forgiven, it can escape our thinking that He desires for us to become
beacons of hope for others lost on the path of life. Walking with Him in obedience is often not easy. It takes determination to choose His way
rather than the way of men.
Take care with love, especially His! Your servant and friend in Christ, who still
prays for you each morning. Darlene

where it hurts. Pray for my wisdom and
patience as he continues to stay here.
