More About Maps

"Now Sarai Abram's wife had borne him no children, and she had an Egyptian maid whose name was Hagar.  So Sarai said to Abram, 'Now behold, the Lord has prevented me from bearing children.  Please go in to my maid; perhaps I shall obtain children through her.'  And Abram listened to the voice of Saria." Genesis 16:1-2

There was a son by this creative method (which was not all that rare in those days), however, it was not pleasing to Sarai (or the Lord) in the long run.  Sarai sent Hagar and her child, Ishmael, into the desert.  And God had compassion on this child -- as he was from Abram.

"Moreover, the angel of the Lord said to her (Hagar), 'I will greatly multiply your descendants so that they shall be too many to count...And he will be a wild donkey of a man, his hand will be against everyone, and everyone's hand will be against him, and he will live to the east of all his brothers.'"  Genesis 16:10,12

"Now when Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, 'I am God Almighty; walk before Me, and be blameless.  And I will establish My covenant between Me and you, and I will multiply you exceedingly.'" Genesis 17:1-2

God again speaks of the land to be Abrams inheritance, asking Abram to be faithful.  Yet already there is enough trouble to "change the map".  Other changes occurred, such as the inheritance, the way the covenant and attitude of entitlement to wealth of the Israelite nation was to play out.  It just took a long time.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who prays for you each morning, Darlene

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST?

  • •       UPDATE - Adrian - still in the tiny regional hospital.  They are scheduled to do a CT scan and think he may have had a heart attack.  They withheld his pain meds as "punishment" for being a demanding patient, which has happened before in this little hospital and it takes a doctor to fix it so he is managed properly.  He is growing weaker and is so worried about his little companion dog.  I spoke with Shane and Carol, who were there visiting him but were going out of town for a few days. Be sure to pray for them so they have the strength and compassion to help.  Adrian needs to get to the major nearby hospital for an angiogram when they are able to transport him there safely.   No word when they will fix his teeth or on his terrible stomach pain or let him know if the cancer treatments are working.  Pray Stewart McClelland, (a retired pastor) will be there with Adrian soon.  Please do not grow weary of praying for Adrian and his companion dog, Toby, who is his closest friend now.
  • •       Donald Trump - the new USA President.  If ever there was a time to pray for an individual, it is now!  No matter whom you voted for or wanted as President, it is our responsibility as Christians to remember God has a plan through this man.  Pray someone helps him understand the true meaning of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and that he will have someone to regularly disciple him.  So much depends on it.
