2. Flush the Feelings

In preparation for Easter, we are studying Mark.
Max McLean has memorised and performs the entire book.  It takes around an hour to listen to it all, but it may bless you as it did me.
On YouTube search for Max Mclean "Gospel of Mark" or cut and paste this link into your browser:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Un3gSYkd0ds&list=PLz7sbgsselWMIDnxcTORi4BS5792r0Ta3

"At that time Jesus answered and said, 'I praise Thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that Thou didst hide these things from the wise and intelligent and didst reveal them to babes.  Yes Father, for thus it was well-pleasing in Thy sight.

"'All things have been handed over to Me by My Father; and no one knows the Son, except the Father; nor does anyone know the Father, except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.

"'Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.  Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you shall find rest for your soul.  For My yoke is easy, and My load is light.'" Matthew 1:25-30

"2. Allow our feelings about what has happened to come to the surface and flush out.  We may have repressed our anger, self-hatred, or disappointment for a long time, but we can only get rid of such emotion by emptying them.  Our destructive thought patterns will never change until we express them, preferably alone to God.

"At the end of this phase, we have a sense of great relief.  This is the time 'when the burden lifts,; as some have called it.  But we are not finished.  We need more than just a ventilation of tension."[1]

"Praying through" is setting aside time and making a focused effort to tackle life-limiting issues.  It is a rather old-fashioned idea in a world where we are so pressed for time, so busy, multitasking through a day of digital stimulation.

All this activity is meant to distract us and allow us to bury the foundational issue of "not being right with God".  Until we deal with these issues, there can be no peace.

Christ died to pay for our sins and we must confess and surrender these to Him...truly not trivially.  Sometimes this takes extra effort.  Next week we will look at the final two steps in this process.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who prays for you each morning, Darlene (Also, those with AOL email accounts, know that the daily emails I'm sending are continually being returned undeliverable.)

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST?

NEW PRAYER REQUESTS?

PRAISE AND THANKSGIVING

  • ·        UPDATE - Adrian - met up with a retired pastor (please pray for Stewart McClelland) who spent time with him this week.  I got to speak with them both and have Stewart's email details so can monitor Adrian a new way.  However, Adrian is exhausted, miserable and grumpy with the pain, heat and humidity.  Please do not grow weary of praying for him.  He needs the Body of believers to help him, he needs a safe place to live and to feel the hand of the Lord covering and comforting him.
  • ·        Me - They began the paperwork for the new project last week with the Federal government) no start date but sounds like within three weeks - far too long!  My stress is still high but God is patiently helping me through.  Am deeply grateful for the many prayers helping carry me over this very hard place and for the practical support of Annette, Lyle and Patti.
  • ·        Fea - is home from hospital recovering from a serious injury to her left arm.  Please pray for her complete recovery.
  • ·        Paul - sold a script he was writing!.  It has given him a new confidence (he has not had paying work since 2010)!  He has been having more interviews.  Remains on a waiting list to have a surgical procedure to repair an injury he sustained while volunteering at Vinnies (who are trying to deny paying him for this).  I know the Lord is watching over him because of your prayers.  Most of all, pray his heart melts enough for the Truth to touch him where it hurts.
  • ·        Doris - at 98 years old came through her oral surgery well.  It will take about 6 weeks to heal.  Patty is now home.
