A Pause for Some Sevens

"After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven, and the first voice which I had heard, like the sound of a trumpet speaking with me, said, 'Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after these things.'

"Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne was standing in heaven and One sitting on the throne." Revelation 4:1-2

We spoke earlier about the number seven as special in the Bible.  As I was studying to prepare this segment of the devotion I discovered that there are two more sets of seven letters to churches:

Paul wrote to seven churches:  To Rome, Corinth, Galatia, Ephesus, Philippi, Colosse and Thesalonicia, sometimes more than once!

Then the combination of James, Peter, Jude and John wrote seven letters for congregations they were concerned with.

To me this is a remarkable thought, in that God's Word is there for us to consider and learn from.  Our heavenly Father is always giving us opportunities to learn from Him and consider our attitude, behaviour and actions in light of His sacrifice, grace and amazing love.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who prays for you each morning, Darlene
