No Fail!

"Love never fails." I Corinthians 18:8

"Now there is in Jerusalem by the sheep gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew Bethesda, having five porticoes.  In these lay a multitude of those who were sick, blind, lame, and withered, ...

"And a certain man was there, who had been thirty-eight years in his sickness.  When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he had already been a long time in that condition, He said to him, 'Do you wish to get well?'

"The sick man answered Him, 'Sir I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, but while I am coming, another steps down before me.'

"Jesus said to him, 'Arise, take up your pallet and walk.'  And immediately the man became well, and took up his pallet and began to walk." John 5:1-3a, 5-9

"God loves you simply because He has chosen to do so.  He loves you when you don't feel lovely.  He loves you when no one else loves you.  Others may abandon you, divorce you, and ignore you, but God will love you.  Always.  No matter what."*

I've heard various sermons on the passage in John; most suggest the man was just making excuses and didn't really want to be healed; he only wanted sympathy.  But I think, he was embarrassed when he saw Jesus and had come to believe he was hopeless and unworthy to be healed.  We all feel that sometimes, don't we?

Yet, Jesus is always there, with His unfailing love and forgiveness to embrace us and tell us it will be alright.  We just have to look up and say we need His help.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who prays for you each morning, Darlene
