Thoroughly Modern

“Thou O Lord, dost rule forever, Thy throne is from generation to generation. Why7 dost Thou forget us forever; why dost Thou forsake us so long? Restore us to Thee, O Lord that we may be restored. Renew our days as of old. Unless Thou hast utterly rejected us, and art exceedingly angry with us.” Lamentations 5:19-22

“More passionate than anyone in history, the prophets of Israel gave voice to the feeling of disappointment with God. ‘Why do godless nations flourish?’ they asked. ‘Why is there such poverty and depravity in the world?’ ‘Why are so few miracles?’ ‘Where are You, God?’ ‘Why do You always forget us?’ ‘Why do You forsake us so long?’ Show Yourself; break Your silence. For God’s sake, literally, ACT!” *

God’s Word is timeless because we all have these questions. Yet, we have His Word to comfort us as we travel through times of confusion and weakness and fear. It is important to remember it is a personal journey and we have a personal responsibility to make choices.

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Thy presence, and do not take Thy Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Thy salvation, and sustain me with a willing spirit. – For Thou dost not delight in sacrifice, otherwise I would give it; Thou art not pleased with burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God Thou will not despise.” Psalm 51 10-12, 16-17

Take care to understand His Word. Your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene
