To Death

“–but in everything commending ourselves as servants of God, in much endurance, in afflictions, in hardships, in distressed, in beatings, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in sleeplessness, in hunger, in purity, in knowledge, in patience, in kindness, in the Holy Spirit, in genuine love, in the Word of Truth, in the power of God; by the weapons of righteousness, for the right hand and the left, by glory and dishonour, by evil report and good report; regarded as deceivers and yet true; as unknown yet well-known, as dying yet behold, we live; as punishment yet not put to death..” from II Corinthians 6:1-10

“Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.” Philippians 2:5-8

When you are confronted by a world that seems upside-down, it’s like going into a room where someone has altered your perception of the point of gravity. You could find yourself walking on the ceiling or the walls. Nothing would be recognisable and you would find yourself focusing on what is at your feet, struggling to make sense of everything that seems hopeless. Your struggles can take your breath away, you can feel great fear, even fear to the point of death or because of the threat of impending death, but God is right there holding you. Now that is what we have the privilege of focusing on in times like that!

Know His Word. Take care. Your servant & friend in Christ, Darlene

PS: Ongoing Prayer Requests: Reed, who just had surgery for a perforated bowel. Audley’s radio ministry & family grief. Australians to not forget those recovering from natural disasters (fires and floods), encouragement for support workers still labouring. Marilu and new baby. God’s hands on new USA political administration. Barb to find the new job God has for her; wisdom for doctors caring for Gary, Doris, Michael, David and Adrian. Randy’s family moving to Canada. New work projects for me. Praise: Randy’s ministry. Lyle’s brother and girlfriend, as he continues to recover his life. And amazing ways God is using the WeakDay Devotions lately!
