So Many Animals!
“The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. To Abraham was born Isaac; and to Isaac, Jocob; and to Jacob, Judah and his brothers; and to Judah were born Perez and Zerah by Tamar; and to Perez was born Hezron;
“and to Hezron, Ram’ and to Ram was born Amminadab; and to Amminadab, Nashon; and to Nashon, Salmon; and to Salmon was born Boaz by Rahab; and to Boaz was born Obed by Ruth, and to Obed, Jesse; and to Jessee was born David the king.
“And to David was born Solomon by her who had been the wife of Uriah; and to Solomon was born Rehoboam and to Rehoboam; Abijah; and to Abijah, Asa; and to Asa was born Jehoshaphat; and to Jehoshaphat; and to Jehoshaphat, Joram; and to Joram…
“Therefore all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David to the deportation to Babylon fourteen generations; and from the deportation to Babylon to the time of Christ fourteen generations. Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows…” Matthew 1:1-8a, 17
Of the four Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John), my favourite remains Matthew. Of course, it is the first one in the Bible, and I’ve likely read it the most times. However, it always appealed to me because it touched on topics that made sense to me.
For those who may not know, my first reading through the Old Testament (KJV at nine years old) left me in despair. I hated how many animals had to be killed for God to forgive His chosen people. So, I stopped reading for a while.
How was I to know God’s plan for His readers was to fully grasp the seriousness of sin!
When I did return to start reading the New Testament, Matthew seemed crammed with details that would appeal to the Jewish people. I had figured out that they were obsessed with keeping every tiny part of the law. But, they seemed blind to see that Jesus WAS the Messiah, the One sent to, once and for all, satisfy the law.
To me it is just so neat to realise again, how perfect God’s plan is for His beautiful, yet, broken world.

NOTES: I choose to believe the Bible because it's a reliable collection of historical documents written down by eyewitnesses during the lifetime of other eyewitnesses. They reported supernatural events that took place before, of specific prophecies; and claim that their writings are divine rather than human in origin.
The Five Solas: Individuals are saved by grace alone, through faith alone in Christ alone, as revealed by Scripture alone to the glory of God alone!
