Sharing Thanks
“Now this is the law of the sacrifice of peace offerings which shall be presented to the Lord. If he offers it by way of thanksgiving, then along with the sacrifice of thanksgiving he shall offer unleavened cakes mixed with oil, and unleavened wafers spread with oil, and cakes of well stirred fine flour mixed with oil. With the sacrifice of his peace offerings for thanksgiving, he shall offer unleavened cakes mixed with oil, and unleavened wafers spread with oil, and cakes of well stirred fine flour mixed with oil.
“With the sacrifice of his peace offerings for thanksgiving, he shall present his offering with cakes of leavened bread. And of this he shall present one of every offering as a contribution to the Lord; it shall belong to the priest who sprinkles the blood of the peace offerings.” Leviticus 7:11-14
There were two offerings for the fellowship offering that were meant to express thanksgiving for God’s general benefits. This offering consisted of two types of bread:
· Unleavened bread. This was of a ‘memorial portion’ or an offering of the invocation and was burned.
· Leavened bread that was leavened with yeast. It was not burned on the altar, rather a portion of this bread was given to the priests.
The priests would present this bread before the Lord as a thanks offering and they would eat some of it. The leftover bread was shared with the worshipers. And just like with manna, all the thanksgiving offering had to be eaten on the same day. Typically, the worshippers could not eat so much bread and they were encouraged to share it with the poor.

NOTES: I choose to believe the Bible because it's a reliable collection of historical documents written down by eyewitnesses during the lifetime of other eyewitnesses. They reported supernatural events that took place before, of specific prophecies; and claim that their writings are divine rather than human in origin.
The Five Solas: Individuals are saved by grace alone, through faith alone in Christ alone, as revealed by Scripture alone to the glory of God alone!
