Thank You, God for Hope
“Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, ‘Indeed, has God said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden?’ And the woman said to the serpent, ‘From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat; but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat from it or touch it, lest you die.’” Genesis 3:1-3
“To the woman He said, ‘I will greatly multiply your pain in childbirth, in pain you shall bring forth children’ yet your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you.’” Genesis 3:16
“Now the man had relations with his wife Eve, and she conceived and gave birth to Cain, and she said, ‘I have gotten a man-child with the help of the Lord.’ And again, she gave birth to his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of flocks, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.” Genesis 4:1-2
There are times when we think there is no way back after we have been disobedient to God’s perfect plan for our lives. The stain of sin, though invisible to everyone else is like a burning coal inside our hearts.
Sometimes I think about how sad Eve must have been as she wondered what the future would mean for her. Then, God began to work out His perfect plan for all of mankind when He gave her not one, but two sons. Her expression is one of joyful, declarative thanksgiving. How humbling is that!
