Thank You for a Remnant!
“While He was on the way to Jerusalem, He was passing between Samaria and Galilee. As He entered a village, ten leprous men who stood at a distance met Him; and they raised their voices, saying, ‘Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!’ When He saw them, He said to them, ‘Go and show yourselves to the priests.’
“And as they were going, they were cleansed. Now one of them, when he saw that he had been healed, turned back, glorifying God with a loud voice, and fell on his face at His feet, giving thanks to Him. And he was a Samaritan.
“Then Jesus answered and said, ‘Were there not ten cleansed? But the nine – where are they? Was no one found who returned to give glory to God, except this foreigner?’ And He said to him, ‘Stand up and go; your faith has made you well.’” Luke 17:11-19
My Mom was skilled in so many ways and one was her ability to sew. Until I went to university, she made all my clothes…even my winter coats! And her Mom, also was skilled at sewing. Grandma would visit once in a while to gather the remnants of fabric. She would, by some amazing way, arrange the odd-shaped scraps and sew them together into a new bed-sized cloth that she called a ‘crazy quilt’.
This long-lost craft holds a special reminder for me of how our Father God skillfully fits all of His children together, like the large and small bits of random fabric pieces to create one cloth (sort of like I Corinthians 12:12-27), where even a small remnant is of value. Although there were ten lepers only the one – a remnant of the whole - was grateful enough to turn back to thank the Saviour.

NOTES: I choose to believe the Bible because it's a reliable collection of historical documents written down by eyewitnesses during the lifetime of other eyewitnesses. They reported supernatural events that took place before, of specific prophecies; and claim that their writings are divine rather than human in origin.
The Five Solas: Individuals are saved by grace alone, through faith alone in Christ alone, as revealed by Scripture alone to the glory of God alone!
