Thank You for Anthomogeomia!
“And there was a prophetess, Anna the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was advance4d in years and had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage, and then as a widow to the age of eighty-four. She never left the temple, serving night and day with fastings and prayers.
“At that very moment she came up and began giving thanks to God, and continued to speak of Him to all those who were looking for the redemption of Jerusalem.” Luke 2:33-38
The word Luke uses here for thanks is a verb rarely used in Scripture: anthomologeomia. It is also used in Psalm 79 to express lamenting over the defilement of Jerusalem in the future. Anna’s thanksgiving was bitter-sweet because it hid a deeper meaning. She was aware of what the future would bring for this infant.
There was nothing ‘remarkable’ about Anna’s life of service -- other than the faithfulness she showed in believing God and waiting and praying patiently for the Messiah. The thanksgiving lament was a result of her knowing that Jesus Christ came not to celebrate but to sacrifice.
Anna is a wonderful example to us because nothing is more difficult than faithfully praying and expectantly waiting. Yet, God honoured this woman by ensuring her actions would be in our memory forever!
“’He who is faithful in a very little thing is faithful also in much; and he who is unrighteous in a very little thing is unrighteous also in much.” Luke 16:10

NOTES: I choose to believe the Bible because it's a reliable collection of historical documents written down by eyewitnesses during the lifetime of other eyewitnesses. They reported supernatural events that took place before, of specific prophecies; and claim that their writings are divine rather than human in origin.
The Five Solas: Individuals are saved by grace alone, through faith alone in Christ alone, as revealed by Scripture alone to the glory of God alone!
