Pray with me…
Adoration
We adore You, and Your creation — and that You left us Your Word and work to do.
We are reminded from Isaiah 42: 5-7: “Thus says God the Lord, Who created the heavens and stretched them out, who spread out the earth and its offspring, who gives breath to the people on it, and spirit to those who walk in it.
“I am the Lord, I have called you in righteousness, I will also hold you by the hand and watch over you, and I will appoint you as a covenant to the people, as a light to the nations, to open blind eyes, to bring out prisoners from the dungeon and those who dwell in darkness from the prison. I am the Lord, that is My name.”
We adore you for all the wonders that surround us that we often fail to realise.
Confession
We know that You see us and hear us and know our thoughts.
We confess that we often casually slip — and sometimes do willful and even, evil things. Yet, You promised us in I John 1:9: that
‘If we would confess our sins to You, You are always faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
We ask now that You cleanse our hearts, thoughts, words and deeds. Not for brownie points but that we might accept Your plan for our lives.
Help us never do or say anything in front of You what we would never say or do in front of others.
Thanksgiving
Father God, we:
Thank you that there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus – that we are free indeed.
Thank you that we can know that what is happening in our lives and around us is Your will for us as we follow Jesus Christ and that we can always trust Him.
Thank you for this sunburnt land, filled with wonders where schools are still free to teach the Word and that many are working to share the Gospel in remote places in this land.
Thank You that You never give us more than we can bear and you do not let us go… as it says in John 6:40: “’For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him, may have eternal life; and I Myself will raise him up on the last day.”
Supplication
We come boldly before Your throne of grace to obtain Your mercy and ask that You would give each of us a hunger for Your word, that the Holy Spirit would help us understand the Word, and that we would grow more into Your image and be increasingly more pleasing to You for your plan for this world.
That St Marks Church would be a lighthouse in a neighbourhood of people You care about who think they are doing just fine without You.
Let us be Your compelling light, Your gentle hands as we take Your love and message to those in our families who do not yet know you…to our neighbours, to our places of work or learning -- that Your great commission in Matthew 28, may be fulfilled by our prayers and putting feet to those prayers.
We ask you to give us an irresistible appetite and hunger for your word… and that through reading it we may grow in grace and wisdom for our good and Your glory.

NOTES: I choose to believe the Bible because it's a reliable collection of historical documents written down by eyewitnesses during the lifetime of other eyewitnesses. They reported supernatural events that took place before, of specific prophecies; and claim that their writings are divine rather than human in origin.
The Five Solas: Individuals are saved by grace alone, through faith alone in Christ alone, as revealed by Scripture alone to the glory of God alone!
