Shaken Fruit

“’Now in that day the glory of Jacob will fade, and the fatness of his flesh will become lean. It will be even like the reaper gathering the standing grain, as his arm harvests the ears, or it will be like one gleaning ears of grain in the valley of Rephaim.
“’Yet gleanings will be left in it like the shaking of an olive tree, two or three olives on the topmost bough, four or five on the branches of a fruitful tree, declares the Lord, the God of Israel. In that day man will have regard for his Maker and his eyes will look to the Holy One of Israel.”’ Isaiah 17:4-76
As you can see from the image of the olive tree, it was gnarled and rough. To harvest the fruit, they would shake the branches and let the fruit break loose and fall to the ground.
Isaiah was called to be God’s prophet in a troubled time and although he spoke mainly about current situations, there are End Times references there as well. These are to remind us that although troubled times are ahead, yet, even with what appears to be a dwindling harvest, God’s will will not be shaken or thwarted.
