Thank You Facts

“I will give thanks to the Lord with all my heart; I will tell of all Thy wonders.  I will be glad and exalt in Thee; I will sing praise to Thy name, O Most High.” Psalm 9:1-2

“Rejoice in the Lord always, again I will say rejoice!  Let your forbearing spirit be known to all men.  The Lord is near.  Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.  And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:10-7

“Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” I Thessalonians 5:16-18

In every Christian’s life there are times when life is difficult, challenging, seems a bit pointless and you wonder where God is in all that is happening, most times you can’t change the circumstances, but when you choose to be thankful through these times it certainly helps.  God knows about your heart and He prepared lots of Bible references to thanks.

In fact, (depending on the version you use), there are a total of 178 instances of the word ‘thanks’ in Scripture?

·       106 occur in the Old Testament

·       72 in the New Testament.

Of course, Psalms would have the most in the Old Testament with 66 instances.  And in the New Testament, I and II Corinthians have equal and the most occurrences (9 each).

Since I’m praying for a new series, what would you think if I did a series on the word thanks and its various forms?  There are two previous series topics to also consider:  stones and animals in the Bible.  Let me know your preference.

NOTES:  I choose to believe the Bible because it's a reliable collection of historical documents written down by eyewitnesses during the lifetime of other eyewitnesses.  They reported supernatural events that took place before, of specific prophecies; and claim that their writings are divine rather than human in origin.

The Five Solas:  Individuals are saved by grace alone, through faith alone in Christ alone, as revealed by Scripture alone to the glory of God alone!
